Pleyer Piano Changing Their Designs
The oldest Piano makers Pleyel are thinking of doing a new design for their upcoming pianos. This piano makers has been around from 1757. It was founded in 1757 by Ignace Pleyel who passes away in 1931 and his son Camille took over the company. Pleyel pianos were small in size also very weird looking compared to the modern shaped pianos we see nowadays. Pleyel is not doing as wel as it was in 70′s and 80′s as the new companies from Koren and China have entered the competition and taken some of their business away. Hence it is widely focusing on creating innovative designs.
These new artistic designs will be creative so that it catches the eye of the people, the whole purpose of this change to increase their sales. when interviewed about this change Arnaud Marion the artistic director of Pleyer replied: pianos have help their shape for many years. They want to do something new and change the design and the shape so that it catches the eye of the people.
Here is an interesting fact in early 80′s there was a massive sales on pianos as over 40,000 new pianos were sold by Pleyel in one year and now because of the Asian competition marketing they barely sell more than 8,000 pianos. It is hard to find if this is because of the old designs they currently hold or because of the competition they are getting from Asian companies.
In this fast moving World where new technology is introduced every day, it is very important to move along with the new change. New design changes in instruments have occurred for many years. For example the shape of guitars, keyboard pianos, drums kits and other instrument’s designs have changed from the past.
As being one of the recognisable piano makers, I think this will be a great change for their business. Many Pleyer resellers and fans are eargerly awaiting this change.
