Drums and Percussion Instruments
Drums and Percussion instruments are a member of the percussion group of musical instruments and are usually played with wooden sticks, but can be played with bamboo sticks or steel sticks, or nylon brushes. The drum is part of the rhythm section of a band.
How to set up your drums
The traditional drum kit consists of a mix of drums. A snare drum is mounted on a stand and placed between the player’s knees. A bass drum is played by a pedal with the right foot. One or two tom drums are mounted above the bass drum. A floor-mounted tom drum on the player’s right-hand side. A hi-hat is operated by the left foot and one or more cymbals, usual a crash cymbal on the left-hand side near the hi-hat and a ride cymbal on the right-hand side above the floor tom.
Many drummers extend their kits from this basic pattern, adding more drums like another bass drum or another floor-mounted tom on the left-hand side, more cymbals, another crash or ride cymbal, and many other kinds of instruments, this all depends on what you are playing and what is comfortable for the drummer.
Snare Drum
Deciding what snares drum will suit you and the music you intend to play can be a daunting task to those who are unfamiliar with what’s out there. Even to the initiated, it can sometimes seem as if there are as many snare drums on the market as there are players.
Beginner drums for kids have 3 to 5 pieces, including a bass, a snare and one or more toms a cymbal and a stool. They come in a variety of colors and are made of real wood. Consider a junior drum set for your little beginner.
Your snare drum sound is the most important part of your drum set and should reflect the drummer’s style and musicality. A good snare drum sound is essential to the backbone of any kind of drum kit.
