Musical Keyboards

A musical keyboard is a set of levers or keys on a musical instrument. Depressing a key on the keyboard causes the instrument to produce sounds, either by mechanically striking a string or tine. On electric and electronic keyboards, depressing a key connects a circuit to produce the sound.

Keyboards are hugely versatile instruments and a favourite amongst musicians of all types. From classical to rock, blues, and pop – keyboards can be found in almost every genre. There are many options available these days.

Keyboards can also have synthesizers and midi controllers built into the keyboard.
A “MIDI controller” can’t make sounds on its own and must be connected to a computer to be useful. Musicians use MIDI controllers along with audio software to trigger sounds stored on their computers.
Sound engineers use “synthesizers” to create new sounds or reshape existing ones. These are useful for computer music or sound production but are expensive and complicated to use.

Keyboard Keys

Keyboards come with 49/54/61/76/88 keys. The number of keys on a keyboard has a huge impact on which songs you’ll be able to play. 61 keys will feel limited and you will find some songs where you can only reach all the notes one hand at a time. A keyboard with 76 keys is better, but having all 88 keys means you’ll be able to reach all the notes in every song you want to play.

Electronic Keyboard

An electronic keyboard also called a digital keyboard, portable keyboard, or home keyboard is an electronic or digital keyboard that produces sound by the pressing or striking of keys.
There are five sizes of musical keyboards to choose from, 88 keys (standard piano size), 76 keys, 61 keys, 54 keys, and 49 keys.

Keyboard Music

Keyboard music is a language just like you’d read aloud from a book. The symbols you’ll see on pages of sheet music have been used for hundreds of years and they represent the pitch, speed, and rhythm of the song as well as the expression and techniques used by a musician to play the piece.

Piano Keyboard

The piano keyboard is used for classical to country, romantic to rock, pop to punk, and traditional to techno, pianos, and keyboards are never far away. Whether they’re providing the melody, acting as part of the rhythm section, providing a harmonic bed, or screaming a synthesized bassline, the black and white keys are never far away.

Virtual Keyboard

A virtual keyboard is a software that can usually be operated with multiple input devices, which may include a touch screen, an actual computer keyboard, and a computer mouse.
